From The PTA President

Dear Running Springs Families,

Where did September go? It’s hard to believe we have finished our first month of school, but in that month your PTA has been super busy! Thank you to everyone who completed their First Day of School Packets and purchased their PTA memberships, Yearbooks, Birthday Book Club Books and Emergency Kits. Though our official sale is over, PTA Memberships and Yearbooks are still available to purchase. Thank you to all the parents that helped process all these orders and our amazing chairmen who are taking care of all your orders! Plus a very special thank you to Kerena Mendez who maintains our PTA website, which enables us to pay online!

We concluded September with PTA’s one and only fundraiser, our 7th Annual Redhawk Run-a-Thon. A GIANT thank you to Patty Chau, who was again this year’s chairman. Patty spent hours organizing, getting donations and communicating with parents. She did an AWESOME job!!! We really appreciated everyone’s understanding when the last minute changes were made and we created a Rock-a-Thon instead. It was a super fun morning and there is no doubt….. Our kiddos ROCK!!! Thank you to all the families that came out that morning to help support our students and make this such a successful event. We are very excited to announce that we MADE OUR GOAL…. THANK YOU!!! 100% of the funds raised stay at Running Springs to help fund activities that enrich your child’s school experience! So thank you again to all those who donated….. It’s true…. EVERY DOLLAR COUNTED!

But the fun doesn’t stop in September, hold onto your boot straps for October! It is a fun-filled month! There will be conferences, 6th grade Outdoor Science Camp, Red Ribbon Week, Fall parties and the Ghost Town Family Fun Night Round-Up! Watch for more information on these events in your child’s communication folder. Family Fun Night takes tons of volunteers, so don’t be shy…. sign up to volunteer to help!

Thank you to all our parents who are taking on the role of Room Parent! We are so lucky at Running Springs to have so many parents that are so generous with their time! But we can never have too many volunteers, so please feel free to contact me, any PTA Board Member, any Chairmen or your Room Parent and we are happy to help find a place for you to volunteer!

Lastly, PTA is excited to be offering TWO Meeting in the month of October! Both meetings will be on Thursday, October 13th. The first will be at 8:30am in Canyon High School’s Library. The second meeting that day will be at 7:00pm in Running Springs MPR. We will have a CARES representative at both meetings to provide facts about Measure S and answer any questions you may have. As always, our PTA meetings are open to all families, regardless if you have purchased a PTA membership or not! We hope to see you there!

The October newsletter was released last week! If you haven’t seen it yet, you can download a copy here.

Happy October!

Family Fun Night

Ghost Town Round-Up at Running Springs Ranch!!

Howdy y’all!! This year’s Round-Up is going to be held on Friday, October 28th from 4 to 8 p.m. This annual event brings our Running Springs families together for a fun-filled night of carnival games and prizes, photo-booth, crafts, cakewalk, tasty grub & sweet treats, and some pretty amazing raffle baskets…made possible by your generous donations. This year the townsfolk will again be allowed to wear their Halloween costumes. So hold onto those bootstraps, as we transform Running Springs Ranch into our very own “Ghost Town Round-Up.” Please look for more information and costume guidelines in your child’s communications folder.

As you know, many steer hands will be needed to make this night a success. Each classroom’s room parent will be rope’n up volunteers to work in a carnival booth, bring a dessert for the cake walk, and donate items toward our themed raffle baskets.
