Poster Contest – Water Conservation

For the 25th year, Anaheim Public Utilities is sponsoring its annual Water Conservation Poster Contest in celebration of California’s Water Awareness Month Campaign in May. Students in 1st through 8th grade attending any public or private school in Anaheim are eligible to participate.

Inside the Outdoors is a proud partner with the Anaheim Public Utilities!

Three winning posters will be selected from each grade. Prizes include an exciting pre-game ceremony honoring all of the winners on the field prior to an Anaheim Angels game in May. Winning posters will be displayed during the month of May in the lobby at Anaheim West Tower located at 201 S. Anaheim Blvd. in downtown Anaheim. In addition, the overall top five posters will be included in a Traveling Art Exhibit showcased by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

Please encourage your child to participate in Anaheim’s Water Conservation Poster Contest. This contest is intended to emphasize the necessity of long-term water conservation to help ensure adequate water supplies for future generations, and to foster a positive attitude about the importance that each individual can make by using water efficiently.

Make sure to follow the contest guidelines very carefully. Entries must be post-marked or hand-delivered by Friday, April 10, 2015.

** More information about the Water Conservation Contest and a flyer HERE

Good luck and we look forward to receiving many entries from your children this year!

Snack Sign Up – PTA Meetings

green coffeeWe need volunteers…Picture1

…to bring snacks to the monthly PTA meeting.  Many parents would like to attend our morning meetings, but need to rush off to work or appointments and it makes it much easier for them if they can count on grabbing a snack or water at the meeting real quick.  We want as many as possible to be able to attend our meetings so please consider helping out by bringing some morning breakfast/snack items once in a while.  We are using the web tool “Volunteer Spot” to help organize our volunteers so we know what we have each month.  If you’re interested in helping, please click on the “PTA Hospitality” tab at the top of the page.

1. Click on the Volunteer Spot link
2. Enter your email address
3. Select a Spot
(VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone. )

If you would like to volunteer but don’t want to go to the site and enter your email address, just contact our Hospitality Chair instead.:  Aarti Vipani at  APVipani@Gmail.com.

Thanks so much for your support!

* * We Need Your Help * *

We hope to compete again in the annual track meet sponsored by the Community Foundation of Orange, known as the Foundation Games. We have sent 3rd-6th grade teams to this track meet for the last few years. However, in order to continue this opportunity for students, we need at least 10 more volunteers.  Otherwise, we will not be able to participate. If you are interested and available to coach a grade level team of about 10 students to prepare them for track and field events, please contact Mrs. Coe as soon as possible at 714-281-4512 or email me at acoe@orangeusd.org.  Please note, this year the meet for Elementary will be Sat. April 18, at Fred Kelly Stadium.

A Message from your PTA President

hatcute potWow! February was sure filled with fun PTA activities!

We started the month with an Art Masters lesson in the classrooms and moved quickly on to our Know Your States testing! Hooray for all those who came in to take the tests! We’re so proud of their efforts and willingness to try. So many students passed on the first try and went on to take the capitals tests. All students who passed the states test will receive a certificate and will be invited to a pizza party. Those students who passed both the states and capitals will receive a medal in addition to the certificate and pizza party! Great job everyone!

Valentine Bingo Night was held on February 6th and was a great success! A big thank you to Kelley Dyer, Jennifer Loving & Alice
Vaillancourt. Another fantastic family fun night!

Talent show rehearsals have definitely kept us busy. We have 40+ talented Running Springs Acts in this year’s show! It’s sure to be a night to remember! The dress rehearsals will be held in a school assembly format so they can practice in front of their peers and is held the morning of Friday, March 6th. The Talent Show is the evening of March 6th…Good Luck to everyone and we hope you enjoy the show!

We will be hosting our 3rd Grade Bike Rodeo on March 26th. More information regarding this event will be sent home in your communication folder and will be posted on our PTA website.

At our last PTA meeting, we announced our nominees for the 2015/2016 Executive Officers. Elections will be held at our March 12th PTA Meeting at 8:15am. Hope to see you there.
